I am a self-taught potter. Initially I started to make utilitarian pieces, but I moved away towards making less functional objects. After throwing pieces on the wheel, I cut and manipulate them until I begin to think of them as small round sculptures. The clay itself suggests to me what has to be done. I still make functional pieces but mostly for personal use. I teach ceramic classes at my studio.
